Pipes Dreams Come True In Philly

Here is a trailer of a new video series with an awesome concept. The show will feature Sean – a ‘green’ enthusiast who travels around Philadelphia to learn about its marijuana culture and the people on both sides of the fence. There should be some interesting interviews, dialogues and maybe even blaze sessions.

A couple of years ago, possession of small amounts of marijuana was decriminalized in Philadelphia and the city saved millions by doing it.  Thus, we may not end up seeing Sean having to run away from any cops but it would be awesome if he managed to get some officers opinions on the matter on tape. I don’t know all the details about how you will be able to follow this so I would say the safest bet is to follow his youtube channel but when I get more updates I will let you know.

And shit, Philly is not that far from here so I may end joining him on an episode or two because I think this concept is awesome and we need expose the fact that regular people smoke and have strong opinions on the matter. Interviewing regular citizens on both sides of the fence will bring out lots of different opinions.  I will appreciate being able to hear different opinions and at the end of the day the only way we will be able to come together is through dialogue and education.  Big thanks to Sean for sending this over to me.  More to come when this show gets going.  Let us know what you think of it in the comments.

SUPER BAKED POTATO SKINS

It’s almost football season and it’s time for tailgating. I hope you and your teams have been victorious, whether it be college, NFL or fantasy football. If you could give a shit less about football, well, you’ll still find this recipe appealing if you like good ass bar food. Try these skins out at a harvest festival or whatever it may be, there’s a lot of stuff going on with Fall right around the corner.

What We’ll Need:

4 large russet potatoes
Canola oil to coat
Kosher salt
4-7 grams of cannabis, ground to a fine powder
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon pepper
8 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
4 green onions, sliced

Make 8 servings

DIRECTIONS

Bakin’ the potatoes:

Heat oven to 350 degrees and position racks in top and bottom thirds. Wash potatoes thoroughly with a stiff brush and cold running water. Dry, then using a standard fork poke a few deep holes all over the spud so that moisture can escape during cooking. Place in a bowl and coat lightly with oil. Sprinkle with kosher salt and place potato directly on rack in middle of oven. Place a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch any drippings. Bake potatoes for 1 hour. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 30 minutes.

Decarbin’ the weed:

Reduce oven heat to 275 degrees. Spread out powdered cannabis on a cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool.

Makin’ the skins:

Cut potatoes in half lengthwise; scoop out pulp, leaving a 1/4-in. shell (save pulp for another use). Place potatoes skins on a greased baking sheet. Combine oil, Parmesan cheese, salt, garlic powder, paprika and pepper; brush over both sides of skins. Sprinkle powdered cannabis inside the skins. Bake at 300 degrees F for 35 minutes. Sprinkle bacon and cheddar cheese inside skins. Bake 5 minutes longer or until the cheese is melted. Top with sour cream and onions. Time to throw down.

When folks gravitate to the topic of pro athletes who were caught in flagrante delicto with marijuana, Olympic gold-winning Michael Phelps comes to mind. But let’s not forget about football. Yes, the art and sport of the pigskin has its share of players who have admitted to or were caught smoking marijuana. To educate our readership, we will bridge the gap between ganja and the gridiron:

RICKY WILLIAMS

This Heisman Trophy winner played 11 seasons with the NFL (1999 draft), playing for both the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins. Unfortunately, because of league drug testing rules, Williams’ admitted use of cannabis caused him many problems, including failed drug tests, suspensions, a retirement from football, ad infinitum. He once told ESPN that cannabis “is 10 times better for me than Paxil.”

RANDY MOSS

This wide receiver—who recently signed a one-year contract with the 49ers for the 2012-2013 season—has been enjoying cannabis since high school. He admitted to smoking marijuana during his NFL career, a claim he repeated in 2005 during an interview with Bryant Gumbel. When asked if he still smoked, he said, “I might. I might have fun . . . hopefully . . . I won’t get into any trouble by the NFL by saying that, you know?”

MICHAEL VICK

Long beloved by dog lovers and pet owners (we’re kidding!), Michael Vick has had other things to worry about besides hate mail from PETA. In 2007, the Associated Press reported, the Atlanta Falcons quarterback tested positive for marijuana. This led to the beleaguered athlete to undergo increased electronic monitoring and random drug tests.

SANTONIO HOLMES

Santonio Holmes, a receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was charged with misdemeanor possession in 2008, the Associated Press reported, after officers reported smelling marijuana and found cannabis-filled cigars in Holmes’ vehicle. In 2010, a “wake n bak” comment was posted on Holmes’ Twitter account. In true Anthony Weiner fashion, Holmes claimed his tweets had been hacked and someone else had posted the comment.
